coping again
I am starting to notice the calendar again and it's only July 10th.

It's hard to believe it was only June 29th that my cousin and very close friend Mike died tragically.

It has seemed like two months but it has been less than 2 weeks.

This is how last summer felt after Mom died at its beginning.

Like then, I let the outdoors and my favorite season start a slow healing.

I spent the entire hot weekend on the Miami River in my little boat so yesterday and today I could at least begin thinking about the rest of my life again.

It's too late tonight to put a link here from the Blackberry, but a new photo gallery is on this site. To view it click on "My Photos" at the right and then select the gallery called, "West Virginia '99-'00".

I made this yesterday from. scans of my favorite pictures from the adventure trips Mike and I took in the summers of 1999 and 2000 to the Greenbriar Valley in West Virginia.

The titles and descriptions tell a partial story.

We got two more wonderful thunderstorms today so the drought is fading and the fields looked green again this afternoon below the rainbow.

This made me feel better again still, so maybe soon I can tell the whole story of those trips.

It's very rare for two people to both enjoy things equally but Mike and I both loved the places we went so much that the rest of the world and its problems faded away on these two trips. That's what strengthened our friendship and thus made this loss so painful.
