pheasant and farm cat
I just got back from Columbus (Sunday night) and I wish I would have brought my camera this time to take a picture of what I saw along one of the pretty back roads just east of Clifton.

A gray cat was peering intently through some weeds into the field.

The other side of the weeds was a bright, colorful pheasant.

When I stopped next to them at the stop sign the cat looked at me as if to say, "Wow! I could never catch that bird. He's bigger than me!"

For 30 years I've been driving these same many back roads and they always bring me a sense of peace and intense love for the landscape that sometimes even feels spiritual.

I will be driving them again on Memorial Day weekend instead of 3 weeks from now. I may adjust my schedule slightly for 4th of July and Labor Day too.

This visit was a nice one. I got to see Dad's new car and we went to Kathy's where I got to see Ed and Sue, too.
