been in Louisiana since New Years day
I am typing this from my phone instead of my laptop even though the phone functioning as a modem via 3G is working well at this remote campsite.

I want to save the laptop for demanding tasks like uploading pictures I took in recent days and do things like typing journal entries with the much lower wattage phone. (I hope to add photos soon.)

I decided last week to head down here to the spot I lease for camping along the Atchafalaya levee.

It only gets this cold once every 10 years or so, but up there in Ohio it's extremely frigid too.

The 27 degrees I had to bear is better than single digits up there.

The foldable shelter is working well, even though I designed it for just nights in the lower 40s.

I need to burn three paraffin lamps to keep it cozy when it drops into the 20s.

All propane or other "heaters" are too powerful and would raise it to 100 in here, thus I use the lamps, and candles. And I don't have to worry about carbon monoxide.

Well, that's all for tonight.

Like I said, maybe I can put some pictures up tomorrow.
