Facebook: count me out
I am fairly satisfied with this journal hosting site here, and with the blog hosting Google is providing now, which I've decided to start using.

However, as for other channels of communication on the internet, after becoming familiar with Facebook for about a year, I've decided I hate it.

The whole concept of "friends" as a structure for sharing information with people just makes very little sense to me.

E-mail and the telephone have always served me well, and Facebook adds nothing to those for me.

As for posting photos, news about my life, ideas and opinions, Facebook is a very messy place to do this compared to journals and blogs.

It's nice to be able to put a Profile on Facebook. I will keep one there for now.

But when people who use Facebook find out about me via that profile, they are directed here or to my new blog. They don't need to fart around making me some kind of "friend", and if they go to my blog (but not here), they will be able to get my e-mail address to contact me if they want.
